Where this comes from
A Pennsylvania idea, two decades strong.
The Educational Improvement Tax Credit isn't new or experimental. It's one of the oldest and most respected school choice programs in the country, and Noah's Ark has simply never used it. Until now.
2001
Pennsylvania lights the first lamp
The state creates the EITC, the first business tax credit scholarship program of its kind in America. Companies can send a share of the state taxes they already owe to approved scholarship funds rather than to Harrisburg.
2004
The youngest children are included
A component for the youngest learners is added, extending scholarships to a child's very first classrooms, exactly where Noah's Ark serves families.
2012
The program grows
Pennsylvania expands the effort to reach more students in the communities that need it most, and lawmakers keep raising the funding available year after year.
2014
Individuals get a seat
Special Purpose Entities open the door so everyday Pennsylvanians, not just large businesses, can redirect their own state taxes into scholarships. This is how most families and friends give today.
Today
Noah's Ark joins in
Two decades on, this program sends hundreds of millions of dollars a year to Pennsylvania children. Noah's Ark has received $0 of it, last in the state. With PennGift Scholarship Fund behind us and credits secured, that changes now.
